Funding through the New York State, Department of Health, Office of Rural Health enabled purchase of a six-passenger mini-van. The van is currently used to transport individuals who cannot access service through existing programs. Together with Love, Inc, a Springville based clearinghouse, the Alliance offers transportation on an as needed basis.

Love, INC provides volunteer drivers who live along the Route 39 corridor. It recruits and coordinates all schedules for this highly successful collaborative effort.

Healthy Community Alliance Van

This service allows transport from the Arcade, Springville, and Gowanda communities in a 40-mile radius, which may include Warsaw, Buffalo, Little Valley and Olean. Individuals may request  transportation to keep physician appointments or even to get groceries. However, Love INC will screen all requests to make sure the appropriate service is used. Also, requests should be made 7 days in advance.

In June 2003 the Alliance obtained another van through the WNY Ford Dealers "Ford Friendship Express Van" Program allowing expansion of services to Gowanda and surrounding communities. The Gowanda chapter of Love InC operates the van in partnership with TLC Health Network. Call (716) 532-3541.

While no fees are charged, donations are deeply appreciated.

If you would like more information about the van service offered by the Alliance and Love, INC. , please contact Jan Mattison, Program coordinator at Love INC Love, Inc. (716) 592-3761.

Donations can be mailed to the Alliance at PO Box 27, Gowanda, New York  14070.
